- item: SRC-ReportProperties of self compacting concreteBaskaran, K; Wahalathantri, BLDemand for self compacting concrete is Abstract: increasing due to the possibilities of usage in congested reinforced areas, and reduction in manpower. Use of high fine content and superplasticisers has significantly altered the properties of SCC compared to normally vibrated concrete. Even though the topic is new to Sri Lankan construction industry, the subject matter covered is useful to the Sri Lankan industry. In this paper, experimental details of several trial mixes and attempts taken to satisfy the fresh properties for two grades of self compacting concrete (Grade 35 and 50) are presented. The attempts taken to investigate the hardened properties have shown for one trial mix. Based on the experimental results, it is concluded that although certain trial mixes can be used in some industrial applications, modifications are needed to enhance the segregation resistance and the passing ability
