- item: Article-Full-textAn Agent Based Simulation for Home Interior Designing(Faculty of Architecture University of Moratuwa, 2013-03) Mohotti, WA; Kulawansa, KADTInterior design is the art of making a space both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing; this is achieved mainly by applying interior design principles. Human involvements in the field of interior design do not produce a perfect design and do not apply all relevant techniques in the field of interior design. Furthermore, designing interior space by getting the service of an interior designer consumes a considerable amount of time and money. This agent based simulation solution for the interior designing process, using agent technology can help to address the highlighted issues. There are several agents for different elements in the interior spaces in this technology, such as a chair agent, a table agent, a light agent, a fan agent etc. According to architectural principles, these agents will consist of different properties. By considering the individual properties, these agents adjust the required elements in the proper order using interior design techniques. The Final output is obtained by communicating between different agents. By implementing this kind of agent base interior designing system, normal clients as well as interior designers can be facilitated, as agent technology has both power and control.

- item: Conference-AbstractAn agent based simulation for the shape adaption of 'Coccus' type bacteria colonies(2015-06-09) Mohotti, WA; Kulawansa, KADTAgent technology is one of the Artificial Intelligence techniques best suited to address a social or biological phenomenon which involves group dynamics. Moreover, computer simulations are used extensively for studying artificial intelligence applications. Hence, research paper presents a simulator that will be helpful for the researchers in medical laboratories and students in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to find the shapes in bacterial colonies for their findings. This research focuses on applying the behavior of swarm of agents that interact upon each other to achieve a common goal for bacteria colony shape adaption for Coccus type. The research emerged a computer simulator using the Pediococcus acidilactici species as the sample. The simulator formed a circular shape as the final shape of the colony which is comparable with the laboratory results of given species. The resulted simulator which is developed using NetLogo agent simulation toolkit represents each bacterium as a programmable agent. Simulator allows bacteria to communicate with each other through environment which acts as the message agent to form the ultimate shape of the colony.
- item: Thesis-Full-textAnalysing citizen profiles with data miningMohotti, WA; Premarathne, SCThere is an exponential growth in issues attached with lifestyles of Sri Lankans over the past few decades. These may contribute to low down the life quality within citizens. In Sri Lanka, there are no adequate researches in the field of analyzing lifestyle data. Though there are few researches which have analyzed the causes for the socio-economic problems, such approaches are not capable of handling big data effectively and not efficient in predicting or describing the issues attach with lifestyle. Hence, the research has been conducted to analyze citizen profiles in effective way to explore different lifestyle issues. It is hypothesized that analyzing citizen profiles can be done through data mining according to the output want to achieve through predictive or descriptive techniques. The solution takes HIES data set as the input and predict the factors attach with a particular lifestyle issue or describe specific lifestyle issue with its associative causes. Having received the input, this approach preprocessed the dataset to remove the anomalies. Then build data models to represent the lifestyle issue by extracting attributes from HIES data set. Then proceed with pattern recognition for the issues. The important patterns recognized through this approach will be useful for government and policy makers to set up appropriate government policies to uplift the life quality of citizen. The overall design of the research consists oftwo research question, one question used predictive mining based solution and other one is based on descriptive mining. Classification in data mining used in finding the factors and their relationships that associated with no schooling and dropouts as those were predictive mining tasks. Clustering is used to explore the relationship between chronic diseases and family. was The overall research is designed using WEKA data mining tool and SPSS statistical tool. Finally, the data models build for citizen profile analysis using data mining techniques are evaluated for their performance using measurements such as value for accuracy, error rate, training time, TP rate, FP rate and ROC measurement.
