dc.description.abstract The aim of this project lias been to design and implement a MIS system for DFC(.' Bank, which contains Integrated Management Information by consolidating data from multiple applications used by different subsidiaries within the DFCC group. Fven though initially the system would be used for operational purposes of identifying customer/corporate credit exposures from a global perspective with respect to DFCC as a group of companies, it is envisaged that information accumulated over a period of years would be used for effectively identifying trends on customer/product behavior and money laundering. Out of the several systems within the DFCC group the following applications were selected for integration of data. "NelSYMBOLS" core banking application of DFCC BANK. 'NelSYMBOLS" Retail Banking & Branch Teller application and 'BANKTRADF e-Commcrce application of DFCC VARDHANA bank. One of the shortcomings of the present environment is the lack of integrated analytical data. I.ven though the same individual/corporate customer might be transacting thru above three systems a global perspective on the customer is unattainable, since (hey are not integrated. The main functionality of the MIS is to extract data from all three systems, integrate and categorize them using a staging area and finally maintain processed information in granular and summarized form within an On-Linc Analytical Processing (01.Al') enabled data warehouse baekend. Due to the limitations in making amendments lo existing ()l 11' applications intermediate tables are maintained in (he staging area to cleanse the incoming data. The front end is implemented using Oracle Business Intelligence package since it makes optimum use of OLAP compatible data in reporting and provides the option for end users to build their own reports in addition to pre defined reports. Since the data is OLAP compatible, forecasting and trend analysis using data mining tools is a definite possibility. en_US
