Description:
In the 2500-year span of Sri Lankan history the colonial era dates from 1505 -
with the successive arrival of the Portuguese, Dutch and the British -
till Independence in 1948. This era left an indelible mark on many aspects
of Sri Lankan identity including the architectural landscape. Sagara
Jayasinghe, outside of his architectural practice, undertakes an ongoing
labour of love, in recording through his drawings the art and architectural
heritage of churches in Sri Lanka. His work unravels a significant chapter
of Sri Lankan history spanning 500 years.
