dc.description.abstract Traditional software development and management methodologies are not well suited for today because the improvements to the area of software development, emerging technologies, and ever changing business requirements. The success factors affect in continuation of agile software development approaches may not be the same as that of migration. It may differ from countiy to country or may even for among different organizations depending on its inhabited culture. In Sri Lanka, some IT organizations yet mange software development projects with traditional approaches like Waterfall method. Hopefully those organizations will adopt Agile software development practices in future. This study consist of a pilot survey which interviews project managers from different IT organizations followed by a questionnaire prepared from the knowledge acquired by both the literature review and the pilot survey to software professionals. The data from the quantitative survey will then analyze with statistical methods to find out the critical success factors. The critical success factors which are going to find in this research would help for the organizations migrating to Agile methodologies to apply the changes in efficient and effective manner. en_US
