dc.description.abstract The objective of the study is to conduct a survey to assess the hydraulic performance of a range of coastal structures with respect to the energy transformation processes. In doing so attention is wave reflection in view of its importance with respect to the long term hydraulic performance of coastal structures. Since the structures investigated did not include low crest structural configurations, wave overtopping was not considered in this study. Most of the structures which were reviewed refer to coast protection structures of the revetment/ seawall type. Hence external transmission was only considered in the case of armoured porous trapezoidal structures.
