dc.description.abstract The Indian Ocean tsunami and its devastating effects have raised questions as to what could be done to prevent or minimise such a level of loss in the future. In the case of structural aspects, first of all we should be able to predict the loads, which are applied by the tsunami wave. But there are many differences about the applicable wave velocity and wave loads among researchers. The purpose of this paper is to collate and present relevant information available in the literature and propose a simple methodology to predict the relevant loads. en_US
