dc.description.abstract Building construction companies should handle the vital information efficiently to survive in the very competitive industry. Most organizations confuse over the influx of data relevant for various management functions. Repetitions and rework is inevitable in these circumstances. Incorrect forecasts may lead drastic effects. Fast and easy extraction of correct data in a well defined data management system backed by a fully developed data file will give the company the required competitive edge over the others. Classification and coding of therefore is very important for This report highlights the recommends a criteria that should be bill items and resources, advancement of the organization, available systems, considered when developing a system, discusses the current use and demonstrates the developed system. The report is based on the current research undertaken at the University of Moratuwa funded by the ILO/ICTAD en_US
