Large number of fields uses augmented reality in order to enhance the efficacy and effectiveness of processes. Similarly, augmented reality is an emerging trend in the supply chain management field. Growth and rapid progress in the use of augmented reality in supply chain and logistics industry are growing remarkable manner in during past few years. However, application of augmented reality technology is in infant stage in warehouse operations in the Sri Lankan context. Therefore, this paper aims to explore the possibilities of augmented reality applications and its dynamics in warehouse operations.
Research paper first presents an integrated model of augmented reality applications arising from a comprehensive literature review and qualitative interviews. A questionnaire-based survey was then undertaken to test the possibilities of augmented reality applications. This mixed method research used 30 respondents. Data analysis were comprising of descriptive analysis, reliability and validity test. Finally, data were tested using Henry Garret Ranking method.
Research result indicates that even though the technology is not mature enough at the moment, the potential benefits are enormous that make a promising future. Future directions for further research are discussed. This research provides a starting point for researching the use augmented reality in warehouse operations in the Sri Lankan context. |
