Information management systems for units 6B of the department of Inland Revenue (IMS IRD 6B systems)

dc.description.abstract The department of Inland Revenue is a leading government institute in Sri Lanka which has 35 branches. The main role of the institution is collecting taxes representing the government. It is controlled by the Ministry of Finance. The department's head office is in Colombo 2. The data of the department is handled by the computer development unit. Large tax unit is one of the branches in the head office. Unit 6B is the sub unit of the Large tax Unit. There aren't any separate information systems for these branches. And the officers are always busy in revenue collection and report generating. Although their main role is taxation, they are busy with documentation, because there is no automated system for managing information. In order to study the existing system, Manuals, study guides and procedures were used along with the help of observations. And towards the path of the analysis and design process; use case diagrams, use case descriptions, activity diagrams, grammatical analysis, sequence diagrams, class diagrams and Entity relation diagrams were equally essential for the success of the project. An Information management system is introduced to solve above problem. And it is expected to manage information through this automated system. Along the path towards the automated system from manual system it decided to achieve efficient and effective revenue collection process and report generating process. With this proposed .system revenue details which are related to the company files in Unit 6B, is uploaded to the integrated system. Accordingly revenue collection process and report generating process is performed in an efficient manner. Then the report generating process is effective than current system. After completing the analysis and design, implementation, evaluation and testing the manual system was established successfully as an automated system. en_US
