dc.description.abstract The office environment, unlike the factory environment, has not been the focus of much psychological research. As safe and clean workplace, it was not seen as having significant impact upon users and user performance. This is no longer considered true. How, as a result of the growing importance of office work, the introduction of office automation, the changing character of work, and the economics of office buildings, the office environment is becoming more intimately linked to the psychological needs, performance, and well - being of its users. When create environmental condition that support or even enhance the work experience of individuals as well as the performance of organizations. Office work continues to grow in importance both in terms of the numbers of people involved and the nature of the work conducted. In the past, the office was organized as a support function to the manufacturing process, to record sales transactions and monitor the production process. Office tasks were primarily those of paper handling. For this passive mode, office design needed only to provide an acceptable, functional workplace. Today, office work is increasingly concerned with the generation and communication of ideas. Using vast databases, workers analyze, conceptualize, and support a new range of activities and is no longer an adjunct to the factory. Office functions have become an integral part of the organization, and productivity in the office has become an important issue. Now office design needs to provide a responsive environment - interior spaces that encourage productivity by facilitating task performance, by supporting user needs, by allowing for meaningful communication and work relationships, and by providing a stimulating organizational climate.
