dc.description.abstract A study on air pollution and its adverse impact to the world is studied as literature surrey. The contribution by vehicles to the air pollution is studied in global and local scale. An evaluation was carried out on the existing vehicle emission testing program (VET) to identify the critical issues. The major issue is vehicles are unable to tolerate the effects of the maximum engine speed. Several trial tests have been carried out to identify the relationship between K factor versus he engine speed and a relationship has been developed to simulate the relationship. I sing the mathematical relationship it will be decided a K- value for intermediate levels of engine speed to carry out VET program in a more meaningful way. The result of the study is very useful in devising improved methodology for the VET program in Sri Tonka.
