dc.description.abstract The purpose of the paper is to evaluate the effects of design parameters such as solidity, Renold number, aspect ratio etc. for the performance of fixed bladed vertical axis wind turbines. Here theoretical modeling was done and software was developed by Java. Theoretical modeling was based on multiple streamtube model which was derived by the blade element theory. Support arm losses and finite span effect were included to the theoretical modeling and results compared with the literatures.
