Abstract:
The research paper describes a methodology to model departure passenger processing in a terminal at an international airport. This methodology is based on discrete event simulation theory which has the capability to model a network of processors under time varying demand pattern observed in airport terminals and reveal any existing bottlenecks. The discrete event simulation model was developed using Simio 11 software which can be used to do “what-if analysis” of the system. Further, the simulation model was developed based on a case study at Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka.
