Abstract:
Origami structure numerical simulations are
important in analyzing deployable structures used in aerospace.
The analytical equations for the edge curved motion are first
considered and then a numerical modeling method is proposed.
The numerical modeling and the experimental study are focused
on the behavior of an 80gsm copier paper Miura Ori curved
crease model with a perforated crease. The crease stiffness for
the numerical modeling for a perforated 80gsm copier paper is
assumed from the straight crease folding stiffness value found in
the experimental setup. The numerical model is validated by
reconstructing the experimental specimen surface mesh using a
LiDAR scan. The result of the paper shows the numerical model
for the curved crease folding shows a good resemblance
compared with the experimental model setup.
