Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector is highly vulnerable to the climatic changes and have been affecting for a long time. Rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and increased frequency of extreme weather events such as droughts and floods are major concerns. Along with that, farmers who have been adopted their livelihoods from the agriculture suffer due to the climatic effects on their cultivation. This has become one of the major problems in the country and among the agricultural communities in Sri Lanka as they tend to withdraw from their relevant crop type and choose other crop types or retire from agriculture.
