Architccture, it is believed, was born at the time that hunter gatherers started settling down permanently. In this saga of architecture, the discovery of the 'arch' was indeed a significant milestone. When the span between two columns gets wider, the lintel between them tends to fail and the arch was found to be the remedy. It is believed that the Etruscans were the first to build arches.en_US
