Evolution of anatomy education: From traditional methods to contemporary integrated approaches

Abstract

Anatomy education has evolved from traditional, teacher-centered approaches to student-centered, outcome-based learning in system-based, integrated curricula. Traditional methods often lacked clinical relevance and interdisciplinary connections, limiting knowledge retention and application. Modern curricula incorporate constructivist learning theory, spiral curriculum design, and competency-based education to enhance critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and clinical application.
