Much research has been done on issues related to congestion over a data communication link connecting one or more networks to the Internet or a similar network. The main driving force behind such research has been to avoid congestion over high demand links. With the rapid growth of the Internet and its wide range of applications, the requirement of such schemes are a higher priority in order to maximize the utilization ofthe link bandwidth.en_US
