| dc.description.abstract | The research was a resultant of a successful studio design project planned to eliminate the mismatch of the intended meaning; the Noema and the final articulated expression related to Noesis, in the act of design. The project eradicated all preconceived notions on material, symbols and non-accuracy of expression. The presumed reason for this eradication was, a paradigm shift happened in students. This paradigm shift illuminated basic categorical meanings through Noema. It guided students to move along the design process effortlessly towards the final destination. It was the effect of this Noema- involving categorical primary aesthetic meanings on the design process, that was found worth researching. As design is primordially action, the first objective of this research project was to display, elaborate and convey how lived in experiences are utilized, to answer design questions, referring to consciousness of designers in action. Thus. Husserl's transcendental data explication was used. Next objective was, to use the resultant content of this data explication to answer the design question in focus; the effect ofNoema; the basic categorical meanings on the design process. The research enabled grasping the consciousness of student designers in the design process using Van Kaam method in transcendental phenomenology. A major finding was; even to identify basic categorical meanings one has to be in a phenomenological level .0thers findings were; i) basic categorical meanings are multimodal, multi-sensory malleable as well as skeletal structures that aided creativity with the possibility of infinite articulations of noesis for a particular noema, ii)The internal content of the experiencer, and the external setting of the experiencer had influenced in reaching a phenomenological state to comprehend the phenomena of identifying categorical primary aesthetic meanings | |
