Abstract
The objective of the project was to create a textile material that is reusable and environmentally friendly, specifically tailored for use in lactation pads. The primary objective was to establish a dual-layer system consisting of a wicking layer to facilitate effective moisture transfer and a leakage prevention layer. An evaluation was conducted on the wicking characteristics, breathability, and moldability of several knitted materials. Fleece, made completely of recycled polyester, is considered the optimal selection for the wicking layer because of its outstanding one-way conveyance, wicking rate, and breathability. The molding process interfered with the features. In order to mitigate this issue, it is recommended that a blend consisting of 85–90% polyester and 10-15% spandex be taken into consideration for future developments. The rationale behind using PU-coated single jersey fabric as the leakage prevention layer was it’s capacity to efficiently achieve a harmonious equilibrium between breathability and waterproofing characteristics. The findings suggest that this specific combination of materials possesses the capacity to create nursing pads that may be utilized repeatedly and offer benefits in terms of both functionality and minimal environmental impact.
