| dc.description.abstract | Technological developments in telecommunications have seen significant improvements in mobile connectivity in recent years. Smartphones have proliferated in the consumer market as the primary method of communication and connectivity. However, connectivity heavily relies on existing communication infrastructure and when these are unavailable, connectivity suffers. As a result, infrastructure-less, ad hoc communication has become an interesting area of research. We have designed and implemented the Meshify2 framework to provide ad hoc communication with support for multiple communication technologies while leveraging the latest smartphone improvements. An accompanying chat application is developed based on the Meshify2 framework, which enables real-time text-based communication among nearby users. | |
