The paper presents a tropical courtyard as a design strategy in promoting indoor air movement within a single storey dwelling. The results of a computer simulation (CFD) carried out for indoor airflow pattern reveals that wind entering from the openings of the external envelope travels through the indoor spaces and finally discharges into the sky from sky roof opening, thus forming an upwind air funnel.en_US
