The Impact of E-procurement on the performance of procurement in Sri Lanka : a study based on regional procurement in Sri Lanka Airforce

Abstract

This research study aims to explore the impact of e-procurement on the performance of procurement in Sri Lanka, focusing on the regional procurement department of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The research methodology employed for this study for AHP model. The population for this study consists of the Sri Lanka Air Force Regional Procurement department, while the sample includes 100 management-level officers from the department, selected using purposive sampling. Data collection is carried out through the distribution of a questionnaire designed to gather perceptions and attitudes towards e-procurement and its impact on procurement performance. Additionally, an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model is utilized to prioritize the criteria and alternatives related to the impact of e-procurement on procurement performance. The AHP model facilitates the assessment of relative weights assigned to each criterion and alternative, providing a structured and systematic evaluation of their importance. Ethical considerations are taken into account throughout the research process, ensuring informed consent, voluntary participation, and confidentiality of participant responses. However, several limitations should be acknowledged, including the focus on a specific population within the Sri Lanka Air Force, reliance on self-reported data, and the potential influence of external factors. The findings of this research study will provide insights into the relative importance of sub- variables related to efficiency, cost effectiveness, and accuracy within e-procurement. These findings can guide organizations in improving e-procurement processes, optimizing cost efficiency, and enhancing accuracy, ultimately contributing to the overall performance of procurement in Sri Lanka.
