Leagile project management has been identified as a promising concept to address the dynamic complexities inherent in green building (GB) projects. However, stakeholder collaboration in green buildings received lack of consideration in traditional project management. Therefore, this study explores barriers to adopt ‘Leagile Project Management’ for improving stakeholder collaboration in GB projects. The research adapted interpretivism paradigm using qualitative research choice via a Delphi study to collect data. Manual content analysis was used to analyse data collected. The study identified 14 notable stakeholders collaborating challenges in green buildings with 16 key lean barriers and 16 key agile barriers that hinder the effective application of Leagile project management. Further, identified key Lean and Agile barriers were mapped related to each stakeholder collaboration challenges in green building constructions in Sri Lanka. The study identifies that stakeholder collaboration challenges in GB construction arise from a complex interplay of economic, organisational, and regulatory constraints. The combined Lean and Agile perspectives reveal common barriers, including resource limitations, insufficient leadership commitment, cultural resistance, and fragmented coordination among stakeholders. These factors collectively limit effective collaboration and hinder successful GB project delivery. The findings highlight the importance of identifying Leagile adoption barriers and their association with stakeholder collaboration challenges, emphasising the need for a more integrated and adaptive project management approach to address structural inefficiencies and behavioural issues, thereby enhancing stakeholder alignment, improving coordination, and supporting more effective and sustainable project outcomes.
