School administration system : Sirimavo Bandaranayaka Vidyalaya

Abstract

Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya is a leading girls school in Colombo. Being an A grade national school with a large amount of students and staff the school's imperative need and search for efficient, cost effective techniques particularly through application of computer technology has increased. Attending to school management manually results a series of problems for the students as well as for the staff in the school. Therefore this project focuses on solving these problems through an automated system. An automated system would help the school to overcome all the problems involved in manual school administration system and would help to give superior level administration to the school. Using this system school staff can do their work easily, efficiently and in accurate way without wasting their time. At the time of login, system identifies the user category and provides different types of links. For the system administrator login, it provides add users and delete users and overall control. For the system operator login, as an input process it provides add student and staff personal information, exam marks, other records and attendance. System operator can generate reports such as result sheets, student and staff information and attendance details of student and staff according to the needs of the school administration. Students can view their details and staff can view their information and also student details. The principal can view all data and generate relevant report. As the analysis of design gives a clear explanation any other system developer can understand the process which adopted by this study and think of way forward in line with this study. At the stage of developing test case it has been given more emphasis in practical issues. Reader is provided with blend of technical and management information in' a simplified manner, which is meant for easy understanding even by a non-technical user. The members of the staff who work with this system said that this is very successful in minimizing their effort. The system has been evaluated by using test data and based on the evaluation I conclude that the project was successful.
